Cannabis Extraction Branding
One week
SubZero Xtracts already had a logo and branding in place. But due to their growth and need to be competitive in the cutthroat cannabis industry there was a need to rebrand and stand out. In order to compete with the big money in the industry a cannabis company must focus on their branding, This means building an identity, having a mission statement, and starting a movement. They were updating their product offering and wanted a brand that would be noticeable in a sea of other brands. It also needed to communicate high quality due to their top shelf products.
Client wanted the logo to incorporate the S the Z and the X in their name in the design. SubZeroXtracts prides itself on its quality and top shelf status. Their process is done to remove all impurities. The brand needs to communicate this in both the logo and identity. The design needed to be as simplistic as possible with basic shapes to be easily remembered and sleek to show consumers the high quality. Since the market is very heavily regulated and cannabis won’t receive widespread acceptance any time soon the logo had to be subtle, it should not communicate that this is a cannabis company and instead a company that focuses on creating high quality products that serve both medicinal and recreational purposes.
It was important for the client to keep the blue that had been a part of their brand up until this point. But because it wanted to communicate high quality products a variant of silver and gold was introduced.
In choosing the font style, three factors helped to determine it.
It needed to look sleek, modern, and imply knowledge as the company hopes to attract consumers by conveying the message that they know what they are doing and that they have a unique scientific process.
A sleek font helps to convey the brand as a high quality brand and a monospace font with hard edges shows that they are scientific in nature and gives a sense of thoroughness.
The logo has the S and Z shape coming together in a way that also makes an X shape. It takes the shape of a hemp leaf without being too on the nose. The white color represents their Sub Zero Temperature extraction process and the yellow drop actually express the high quality extraction they achieve through their process.
With the logo complete and the goal to sell directly through dispensaries and similar vendors. We began designing the packaging for their next product release. Disposable THC pens has been in high demand in the last few years, with many consumers preferring it due to its convenience and lack of odor. The brand wanted to keep its traditional colors but still stand out from its competition. That’s where the gold labels come in. With the use of gold and silver colors the goal was to communicate its high quality on the labeling. The blue and white speaks to the company’s process of low temperature/high quality extraction while positioning itself as a modern brand with a minimalistic with a commitment to excellence.
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
